All about the lovely things that can be found in and around Norfolk and Norwich, from fashion to food and gifts.

Bloggers. Whitlingham Broad, Norwich There are millions of them around the world, thousands of whom are based in Norwich and Norfolk. They're all writing about different subjects depending on their passions, social groups and lives, but they're all linked by the county they live and work in; unfortunately it's more than likely that they will never actually meet each other.  As one of these

Trebbiano Rubicone from Harper Wells Living in a fairly small village just outside of Norwich, I don't have the opportunity to blog about what's on my doorstep very often, so I'm rather pleased to have this one. When the veterinary practice in Eaton moved to Cringleford in 2012, there was a lot of speculation about what was going to appear in its place. Happily the community's fears (mainly

Not suitable for dunking I remember hearing about The Chocolate Deli in Wells-next-the-Sea on the north Norfolk coast a while ago, so my recent visit to the seaside was the perfect opportunity to drop by and sample their wares.  It's only a small little shop located on Staithe Street, but it's filled with irresistible sweet treats. The decor is simple and white washed, but it suits the

Tea at TALC in Norwich Yes, you've guess it, it's yet another blog about cake. Typical, I know. But eating is what I do best! If my cake marathons at Biddys, Mustard and Butlers of Holt haven't convinced you of that, then I really don't know what will. I've been frequenting Tea and Little Cakes on Timber Hill in Norwich for a little while now; it's very close to my work and serves cake. Of

Hot chocolate at Strangers Cafe I've walked past Strangers Cafe in Norwich so many times over the years, but I have only managed to venture in there in recent weeks. After wandering around the Norwich Lanes, I meandered down to Pottergate with my friends. Having been to Biddy's rather a lot lately we decided to try Strangers Cafe and were pleasantly surprised with the discovery. Small but

Scallop starter at Roger Hickman's For years and years, I have longed to visit Roger Hickman's Restaurant on Upper St Giles Street in Norwich, but I never quite managed get there. So when I was invited for dinner there last week, I was utterly thrilled by the prospect. It was such a thoughtful gesture and I couldn't wait to go. It was the perfect occasion for dressing up and indulging, so I

Butternut squash soup at The Hunny Bell When The Hunny Bell started following me on Twitter a year or so ago, I didn't really think anything of it. To be honest, I hadn't heard of Hunworth, the Norfolk village it's located in, before. But when I went out for lunch at the weekend and couldn't get parked in Holt, my friend suggested that we try The Hunny Bell. She had visited last year and

The gorgeous gothic exterior I can only apologise that I haven't blogged about Norwich Cathedral before. I mistakenly believed I had posted about it in the past but hadn't. However, I recently took a friend to visit and think a blog is well overdue. A Norman building dating back to the 12th Century, Norwich Cathedral is just as beautiful inside as the intricate gothic exterior belies. The

Here's a confession: I have been blessed/cursed with ridiculously curly hair. I swing between the two loving it and hating literally depending on the weather. However, for the most part, I hate it. The main reason being that it takes me years to find a hairdresser that's trained to cut it. Because my hair is straight when wet, it obviously dries in a different shape, which has to be taken into

Artistic shot in Piazza San Marco I've always wanted to go to the Venice Carnival. It's been on my bucket list for years, but I never quite seemed to get around to it, in spite of the fact that everyone says that Venice is even better in the winter. So when I spotted very cheap Ryanair flights to La Serenissima for February, it seemed to be too good an opportunity to miss. After

Tea and a rose cupcake at Biddy's in Norwich Those of you that have been with me for a while may well remember that I visited Biddy's Tea Room in Norwich all the way back in 2011. Since then, I've been back every few months, but I've not reviewed it again, even there is now a lovely downstairs area to enjoy. When I first blogged about the eatery, the downstairs was an (extremely tempting)

Well, that's not strictly true. As libraries go, The Millennium Library at The Forum in Norwich is rather modern and, well, noisy. That said, I do find it quite relaxing in there; over the last few winters I've headed there in my lunch breaks to escape from the chaos of work; to escape into a fictional world without budgets and deadlines. It helps me to unwind and return with a clear head.

Where to begin? Well, my life has changed considerably since February, with numerous dramatic events taking place in a relatively short space of time. Dealing with all of that has meant that inNorfolk has languished, leaving all my lovely readers and followers (possibly) wondering where I had got to. Sorry about that. But now, as a newly single 20-something, I have returned looking for

Now, you might remember that I previously posted about Pampers in Norwich and how I always go there for any beauty treatments? Well, I was bought some vouchers for The Lemon Tree over Christmas so I thought I would treat myself to a facial last weekend. I had heard good things about the salon, so I was quite excited when my 60 minute dermologica facial rolled around. It had been a stressful week

OK, so that might not strictly be true - she did own an inordinate number of shoes - but Imelda's in Norwich does have rather a lot too. For those that are easily confused, you might have thought that Imelda's had shut down, but thankfully it's just moved two or three doors down the road and located on the corner of St. Giles Street and Lower Goat Lane. It's much larger than the previous

Now, as you may have guessed, there's nothing that I like more than a shop selling things that I don't really need, which is probably why I like Follies on Bridewell Alley in Norwich. It's a teeny shop with ancient woodwork and low ceilings in the shadows of a medieval church. And if that's not enough to whet your appetite, it also sells some beautiful and fun things. I am particularly

With 2012 well underway, I certainly haven't had enough time to blog as much as I'd like, but I had a delicious meal this weekend and think it deserves a wee slice of my time. Located in South Walsham, about 10 miles from the centre of Norwich, The Ship is a restaurant/pub run by the same company that runs The Recruiting Sergeant in Coltishall. As such, I was expecting a certain standard of

I don't know what it is about this time of year, but I frequently find that I lack concentration, motivation and any semblance of a temper. It makes for a thoroughly stressful time for everyone involved. In a desperate attempt to pick myself up I have decided to treat myself and booked myself in for facial at Pampers salon in Norwich. I've never had one at Pampers before, but I've been

I'm going to let you in on something a bit cheesy: I love going to the cinema. There's something about the anticipation of getting lost in a great film that I just can't resist. And more than that, I love going to a cinema with character. When I was a wee small child, I would go with my friend to Saturday Morning Pictures at a beautiful Grade 2 listed Odeon cinema in town, with relatively

So, with relatives staying in Norfolk last week, it was a nice opportunity  to take someone out and show them around the fine city - shopping and seeing the sites. After many hours of walking around and trying things on, I suggested going to Jarrold's for lunch. I visited The Pantry Restaurant a few months ago and wanted to see if it was just as good. The Pantry is located on the third floor of

Last night I had a really good meal and it would be a mistake not to review it straight away - so here I am again! Because last night was something of a special occasion, we booked a table for 7 people at The Red Lion in Eaton on a Tuesday night - and it's a good job we did! The seventeenth century coaching house was remarkably busy and all of the tables were taken when we got there at 7.30.

The Barrel Scraper in Bologna So, it's been a while since I last blogged; unfortunately high work rates, a cold and Christmas completely got in the way of the Internet, in spite of my meticulous plan. And then I went away for new year. Every year it's the same; it gets to the beginning of December and I realise that I have nothing planned for New Year's Eve. It's sad but true. Unfortunately,
